The Faculty of Education views research as one of its core responsibilities. We are engaged in a wide range of research and are committed to supporting students who wish to enter the field of educational research.
Our research programs cater for education and related professionals who wish to develop the knowledge and skills to conduct professionally-oriented research (including evidence-based and reflective practice); policy-oriented research; or more theoretically-oriented research.

Pathways to research
If want to undertake a PhD, but do not meet the eligibility requirements of previous research experience, there are pathways to research you could take to develop essential research skills.
The Graduate Certificate in Educational Research is for high achievers who want to undertake a PhD, but do not meet the eligibility requirements of previous research experience. You will learn about research methodology, methods and ethics as you plan and conduct a research study that can lead onto a PhD. The course is delivered in an interactive and conversational learning environment. This innovative approach encompasses a broad range of research designs in a way that builds on your knowledge and experience.
Postgraduate research scholarships are offered to both domestic and international applicants to undertake a higher degree by research at one of Monash University's Australian campuses.
There are two rounds:
- Mid year round - the deadline for applications is 31 May each year.
- End-of-year round - the deadline for applications is 31 October each year.
